There’s something magical about hitting the open road and exploring a country’s hidden gems and my recent road trip to Wales was an adventure that took that into fruition, Starting in the south and winding my way up to the North along the scenic west coast, this journey offered me a true taste of Wales.
A Night In South Wales: Remote Hut
My trip began with a drive to South Wales where i stayed at a remote hut nestled in the beauty of the Welsh countyside with stunning views of the rolling green hills, This spot was far from the noise of everyday life offering an opportune moment to take in the peace. The hut itself was simple and cozy providing the perfect rustic one night stay.
I spent the day exploring the surrounding areas, where winding paths led to trickling streams and quiet hilltop views. this first night in South Wales set the perfect tone before i would embark on the rest of the roadtrip.
A Refreshing Stop: Swimming in Abereiddy’s Blue Lagoon
One of the most memorable parts of the trip was a visit to Abereiddy and its famous Blue Lagoon. This striking spot, a former slate quarry now filled with clear turquoise water is popular for both swimming and cliff diving. Even though it was coming into the heights of winter i couldnt help but swim in the extraordinary lagoon, The water was refreshingly cool perfect for an invigorating dip. I would highly recommend going in the summer but even in the winter it is breathtaking. It really was a moment of connection with nature that made the road trip feel truly special.
Coastal Beauty: The Scenic Drive North
The journey north along the West coast was a feast for the eyes with incredable sea views, vibrant green meadows and small stone cottages scattered throughout the landscape. The roads through this lush landscape were often winding and narrow but this added a touch of excitement and kept me alert as each turn revealed new and stunning scenes.
I made several stops along the way wether it be a lighthouse perched dramatically on a cliff edge or the many fields of sheep backing onto the majestic mountins. The journey was filled with historic sites and breathtaking views. Each stop offered a glimpse into Wales rich heritage and natural beauty and I only wish I could have paused at them all.
The Woolly Guardians of the Welsh Countryside
As I traveled through Wales, the sheep were a constant and charming presence that added character to the landscape. Dotting the fields in every direction, these woolly residents seemed to embody the peaceful spirit of the countryside. Whether grazing on lush green grass or clustered together under the shade of an old oak tree they painted a picturesque scene. Watching them roam freely reinforced the sense that life in Wales moved at a gentle unhurried pace.
